Group Soundbath Player™ (GSP™) Certification Course

The GSP™ certification course includes the following components:

  1. Player Essentials™ Module: This online component is completed at the participant’s pace on their electronic device, preferably a laptop, desktop, or tablet. It is completed in order, and a quiz must be passed after each section to proceed. Participants can take the quiz as many times as needed to pass. All questions on the certification exam are taken from lessons in Player Essentials™.

  2. Instrument Setup Consultation: As part of their course, all participants can attend online small group instrument consultations. One in-person private consultation is also offered at The Soundbath Center in Los Angeles.

  3. Practice Assignments: Participants must complete 13 practice assignments concurrently with the Player Essentials™ module. Each assignment takes approximately one hour and is practiced three times within a one-week period. 

  4. Technique Assessments: Participants must turn in 3 technique assessment videos. This is where they get personal feedback on their playing techniques.

  5. Play for Others: Participants must hold 10 one-hour sound bath events with 5 or more attendees. They will collect and turn in 20 feedback forms from attendees. 

  6. Player Q&A: To support participants throughout the course, live online Q&A sessions are offered monthly in the private soundbath.com community.

  7. Private Soundbath.com Community: The course includes access to a private Soundbath.com Community, where participants can join the live Player Q&A sessions, view the instrument library, view and practice their assignments and playing technique videos, and submit questions. 

  8. Certification Exam: The certification exam is an online 50-question multiple-choice exam. 

Upon completing all course components and passing the certification exam, students earn the credential of “Certified Group Soundbath Player™ (or Certified GSP™),” which is valid for two years.

REVALIDATION

Participants must be revalidated every two years to maintain certification. Revalidation is achieved by completing the latest version of the Player Essentials™ module and passing the online certification exam.


GSP™ COURSE TERMS & CONDITIONS

Payment and Registration

  • Full Payment: Full payment is required to complete registration for the course. 

  • Registration Payment Total Cost: The total cost of the course registration is posted on the registration page. It includes a $250 registration fee that is never refundable.

  • Refunds and Cancellations: All sales are final once the grace period concludes, as explained below. Ascending Sounds does not offer refunds or accommodate cancellations for course registrations after the grace period ends.

  • Registration Fee: The course registration fee is $250. This fee is included in the total cost of the course and is the fee paid to enroll. This fee is never refunded.

  • Grace Period: Participants are granted a “grace period” of up to 72 hours (3 days) after registration payment is received, during which they may cancel their enrollment and receive a refund of the price they paid, minus the $250 registration fee. The grace period ends when one of the following occurs (whichever occurs first):  1) 72 hours after making registration payment or 2) 72 hours before their scheduled course start date or 3) at the time a participant RSVPs for an instrument consultation or 4) at the time a participant places an instrument order using their promotional instrument credit. 

Please note the following scenarios:

  • The grace period does not apply if a participant signs up for the course and their scheduled start date is within 3 days. 
  • If a participant signs up for the course and their scheduled start date is 5 days away, the grace period is shortened to 2 days. 
  • If a participant signs up for the course and their scheduled start date is 4 days away, the grace period is shortened to 1 day.
  • The grace period ends if a participant RSVP's for an instrument consultation.
  • The grace period ends if a participant purchases instruments using their promotional instrument credit. 

To receive a refund (minus the registration fee) during the grace period, ALL of the following conditions must be met:

  1. The participant's course start date is more than 72 hours (3 days) away. 

  2. The refund request is submitted within 72 hours (3 days) after the course registration payment is made.

  3. Participant has not RSVP'd for an instrument consultation.
  4. Participant has not placed an instrument order using their promotional instrument credit. 

If ALL of the above four conditions are not met, the grace period has ended, and no refund is available.

  • Non-Disclosure Agreement (Course NDA): This course is for those who want to conduct group sound bath events. It provides information for participants to play sound baths and offer sound bath events, it is not for teaching/training others how to play sound bath instruments or facilitate sound baths. Participants are not allowed to teach or share with others the confidential information learned in the course.  All participants must sign an NDA to ensure the exclusive use of the acquired techniques and information, prohibiting teaching or sharing the course content with others. Participants are only given access to the course once this agreement is signed. Section 3.2 in the Participant Handbook explains more details of this agreement. 

  • Course NDA Completion Deadline: Participants must sign the Course NDA within 7 days of submitting registration payment. If this is not signed within 7 days, Ascending Sounds may initiate a refund of the price paid minus the $250 registration fee. 
  • Online Participant Confidentiality Agreement: Enrollment in this course requires reading and agreeing to follow the terms of this Agreement. 

  • Course Terms & Conditions: Enrollment in this course requires reading and agreeing to follow the terms in this document.

  • Participant Handbook: Enrollment in this course requires reading and agreeing to follow the terms in this handbook.

  • Processing Fees: Fees associated with credit card transactions and ticket processing are non-refundable for any in-person and online transaction with Ascending Sounds and its subsidiaries (including instrument purchases, workshops, courses, events, etc.).

  • Self-Registration: The person taking the course must register themselves. Ascending Sounds does not accommodate name changes, and the person who registers must be taking the course. In the case of a registration error participants may receive a refund minus the registration fee, providing they meet the grace period conditions.

  • Legal Name on Registration: Participants must register using their full legal name, which will be verified with a government-issued ID.

Course Access, Timing, and Completion

  • Instrument Setup Consultation: Each participant is entitled to one free private in-person group instrument consultation at The Soundbath Center in Los Angeles, California. Live online small group consultations are available throughout the course as well, and students may attend as often as they would like. 
  • Course Start Date: Each participant chooses their Course Start Date from the dates offered when registering. This is the date they will be granted access to course materials.
  • Course Timing: Students go through the course at their own pace. It can take as little as 4 months to complete. Participants have 12 months from their Course Start Date to complete all parts of the course, including the certification exam.

  • Access Duration: Access to the course is provided for 12 months from the Course Start Date. 

  • Course Completion Deadline: To be eligible for certification, all course components, including the final exam, must be completed within 12 months of the Course Start Date. 

  • Course Extension: Participants may receive a 6-month extension on course access for a fee of $600. Extension requests must be received before their course access expires. Extensions are not granted after the course expires.
  • Certification Exam: The multiple-choice certification exam is taken online. Once all other parts of the course are completed, students may sign up for the exam.

  • Exam Retake Policy: Participants who fail the certification exam can retake it up to two additional times, with a $150 fee per retake. Each exam retake must be spaced at least 30 days apart. The final retake must occur within 15 months of the Course Start Date. Participants exceeding three failures or 15 months since registration must register for the course again.

  • Discount Period: Participant discounts on add-ons, future courses, and instruments are available for 12 months from the Course Start Date.

Equipment Required to Complete the Course

  1. Computer or tablet with active internet connection.

  2. A smartphone or camera that can record audio and video.

  3. Decibel meter (stand-alone, large meter preferred).

  4. Minimum instruments required to complete the course:

    • 30" or larger bronze Chau or nickel silver gong and mallets.
    • 5 crystal singing bowls (minimum of 2 bowls in the 3rd octave and rest in the 4th octave) and mallets.
    • One of the following instruments: Bead Drum (also known as ocean or wave drum) , Schlagwerk percussion tube, Schlagwerk Raintower

Certification Requirements

All of the following requirements must be met to be eligible for certification:

  1. Course Completion: Certification is contingent upon completing all course requirements within 12 months, which include:
    • Player Essentials Module (passing each quiz)
    • 13 Practice Assignments
    • 3 Technique Assessments
    • 10 Group Sound Baths
    • Pass the certification exam with 70% correct.
  2. Good Standing: Certification maintenance requires good standing with Ascending Sounds' businesses.
  3. Intellectual Property Violations: Unauthorized use of Ascending Sounds' intellectual property in any manner will result in certification revocation.
  4. Agreements: Agree and sign all course documents & agreements.

Promotional Instrument Credit

  • Non-Monetary Value: The promotional instrument credit has no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money, credit, or any form of currency. It is provided solely for promotional use and can only be applied to select instruments sold by Ascending Sounds or its subsidiaries.
  • Eligibility and Usage: Promotional instrument credit is non-transferable and may only be used by the registrant to whom it was issued. The credit may be applied toward specific instruments sold by Ascending Sounds or its subsidiaries. 
  • Shipping & Sales Tax: Promotional instrument credit cannot be used towards shipping or sales tax. 
  • Expiration: Promotional instrument credit expires 3 months from the participant's registration date, after which the promotional instrument credit will be forfeited. No exceptions.
  • Restrictions: Promotional instrument credit cannot be combined with other promotional offers or special discounts. It can be combined with regular student discounted prices. It is not valid for use toward previously incurred expenses or purchases. 
  • Forfeiture of Credit: If a participant violates any course terms & conditions, rules, or policies or is removed from the course for any reason, they immediately forfeit any promotional instrument credit previously granted.
  • Ascending Sounds reserves the right to modify or cancel the offer at any time without notice.

Right to Refuse Service and/or Revoke Certification

Ascending Sounds reserves the right to refuse service and/or revoke certification to any participant at any time for reasons that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Non-Compliance with Course Rules: Participants must adhere to all course rules, guidelines, and instructions. Failure to comply may result in the termination of service.
  • Dishonesty: Knowingly submitting or providing inaccurate information throughout the registration process.
  • Falsifying Coursework: Misrepresentation of submitted coursework.
  • Violation of Course Agreements: Violating course Agreements such as Course NDA, Course Terms & Conditions, and Online Participant Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Teaching: Participants who already play sound baths are welcome in the course. However, those who have taught, mentored, or coached in the past, are currently teaching, or plan to teach within the next 24 months any courses, workshops, or training (including portions thereof) related to teaching others how to play or conduct sound baths, gongs, or crystal singing bowls are not eligible for the GSP™ course without written permission from Ascending Sounds. This permission will include registration instructions. Providing false information about teaching or starting to teach these subjects while enrolled in the course may result in expulsion and loss of certification. Anyone teaching about sound or sound baths in any capacity should contact Ascending Sounds before registering. 
  • Teaching after Certification: The certification license agreement contains a clause stating that the Certified GSP™ may not offer any type of training, teaching, mentoring, or coaching that includes instructions or teaching about how to play gongs, crystal singing bowls, or sound baths for a period of time from the certification date. This will be clarified in the certification licensing agreement.  Violating this agreement will lead to loss of certification. Some exceptions apply. Please note that playing sound baths is not considered "teaching," and there are no restrictions whatsoever regarding playing sound baths.
  • Disruptive Behavior: Any disruptive behavior or other actions that negatively affect the experience of other participants or the delivery of the course content will not be tolerated. 
  • Misuse of Platform or Materials: Unauthorized use, distribution, or modification of course materials, platform functionalities, or any other proprietary resources provided as part of the course is prohibited.
  • Failure to Meet Payment Obligations: Participants must fulfill their payment obligations as agreed upon at the time of enrollment. Failure to do so may result in suspension or termination of access to the course. Any participant filing a chargeback on any purchase for goods or services made with Ascending Sounds or a subsidiary will be terminated (and certification revoked) from this course and any other course, event, or workshop offered by Ascending Sounds without a refund. Ascending Sounds may pursue legal action in this case.
  • Legal and Ethical Violations: Any activity that violates local, state, federal, or international laws or is deemed unethical may result in immediate termination of service and revocation of any credentials with Ascending Sounds.
  • Disparagement & Public Representation: Participants are prohibited from publicly criticizing, slandering, defaming, or speaking negatively about Ascending Sounds, its subsidiaries, officers, principals, or agents in any form—verbally, visually, in writing, or through digital channels, including social media. Additionally, engaging in or repeatedly exhibiting behavior that could harm Ascending Sounds' or its subsidiaries' reputation or negatively affect the operation of Ascending Sounds’ business is forbidden. This includes committing felonies or any criminal acts or any conduct or misconduct that casts significant doubt on the participant’s suitability to represent or lead public events. Violation of this clause will result in immediate expulsion from the course, revocation of any certification,  and expulsion from any other Ascending Sounds business, with the possibility of legal action being taken against the participant.

Intellectual Property

  • Course Materials: Course materials are the exclusive property of Ascending Sounds. Any unauthorized disclosure, recording, copying, or distribution of course content is prohibited and may result in expulsion and legal action.

  • Trademarks/Copyrights: Using any of Ascending Sounds’ trademarked or copyrighted material is not allowed and may result in expulsion from the course and legal action. 

Confidentiality

  • Participants agree not to teach or share confidential and propriety information in this course. This includes but is not limited to the course structure, syllabus, teaching methods, playing methods and techniques, sound bath templates, Player Q&A, sound bath event structure, student instrument prices, course registration process and Agreements, and Course NDA.

  • Participants acknowledge confidentiality extends indefinitely for all confidential and propriety information. 

  • Information in the public domain may be shared freely.

Agreement

By registering for this course, you affirm that you have read, understood, and accepted all terms and conditions outlined in the course participant handbook. Compliance is mandatory throughout your participation. Violating any course terms & conditions can lead to removal from the course (without refund), loss of Certification, and possibly legal action. 

Ascending Sounds applies these terms universally without exceptions for individual circumstances. Ascending Sounds is not liable for any losses incurred, and you agree to absolve Ascending Sounds of any responsibility for financial or other types of losses you may incur due to your failure to attend or complete the course, including access to materials, instruments or any personal or professional impacts.


GSP™ ONLINE PARTICIPANT CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT

By registering for this course, you affirm that you have read, understood, and accepted the following:

  • All course content, including media, test questions, and answers, are the exclusive and confidential property of Ascending Sounds and are protected by Ascending Sounds’s intellectual property rights;

  • Participants will not disclose the test questions or answers or discuss any of the content of the test materials with any person without prior written approval from Ascending Sounds;

  • Participants will not record, copy, screenshot, or share any aspect of the course content, media, or test, including, without limitation, any notes;

  • Participants will not sell, license, distribute, give away, or obtain from any other source other than Ascending Sounds the contents of the course, course materials, or test questions or answers;

  • Participant agrees not to share their online course and online community access with anyone, including login information and passwords. 

  • Participant agrees that their obligations under this Agreement shall continue in effect after completion of the course and test and, if applicable, after the expiration of their certificate and certification and

  • Participant agrees that if they violate any part of this Agreement, they are subject to legal action from Ascending Sounds in the state of California and the County of San Bernardino. Any violation of this Agreement will result in the loss of any credential obtained from Ascending Sounds or any of its subsidiaries and immediate unenrollment in any course they are currently enrolled in (without refund). 


SECTION 1: OVERVIEW

1.1 ABOUT ASCENDING SOUNDS CORPORATION

Ascending Sounds is a wellness company dedicated to improving people’s well-being through sound. Established in 2016, It is the parent corporation for The Soundbath Center™, Soundbath Player™, and Beyond Percussion™. It is also the certifying body for the Group Soundbath Player™ Certification Course. Ascending Sounds strives to provide the highest quality in sound bath education, services, and instruments. 

1.2 SOUNDBATHPLAYER™ TRAINING COURSES

SoundbathPlayer™ educational courses are about helping aspiring sound wellness professionals learn how to offer sound baths as a professional service. The mission is to build and support a global community of players and affiliates with professional sound bath training and certification courses.

1.3 GROUP SOUNDBATH PLAYER™ (GSP™) CERTIFICATION COURSE SCOPE

The GSP™ certification course is designed for beginners to intermediate learners. It teaches the concepts, methods, and techniques for playing instruments in a therapeutic-style sound bath. This online course takes 4-12 months to complete and covers GSP™ methods for delivering professional-quality sound baths.

1.4 LEARNING OUTCOMES

After completing this course and passing the test, students will be able to:

  1. Offer a professional-level therapeutic-style sound bath as a service.

  2. Proficiently apply the SSL™ gong and bowl playing techniques.
  3. Understand the basic music and science concepts related to playing sound baths.

  4. Communicate accurate information about sound baths and their benefits to others. 

1.5 GSP™ CERTIFICATION EXAM

The GSP™ certification exam is an online multiple-choice test. It is based on the core concepts, science, and music theory related to playing sound baths, SSL™ playing methodology, and foundational sound bath information. The exam content comes directly from Player Essentials™ module.

Currently, the exam is only offered in English, and there is no non-English version. 

Those who do not pass the exam can retake it for a fee of $150.

1.6 COURSE UPDATES

The latest version of this participant handbook will contain any changes to the course that will affect students. Ascending Sounds reserves the right to update the policies explained in this handbook. Any changes or updates in the participation handbook will apply to all participants immediately. 

1.7 PLAYER ESSENTIALS™ MODULE

The Player Essentials™ module contains the primary course content. It is online and contains all the information that participants are tested on. It must be completed in order. Each section ends with a quiz that must be passed (with 70%-100% correct) to move to the next section. Participants are given access to this module on their Course Start Date.

1.8 PRACTICE ASSIGNMENTS

To be eligible for the certification exam, each participant must complete 13 practice assignments. Each assignment takes approximately one hour and is to be completed three times within, at most, a one-week period.  The minimum instrument requirement must be met to complete these. The assignments are completed concurrently with the Player Essentials™ module.

1.9 TECHNIQUE ASSESSMENTS

To be eligible for the certification exam, each participant must turn in 3 technique assessment videos. Each participant will receive individual feedback on their playing techniques. 

1.10 PLAY FOR OTHERS MODULE

To be eligible for the certification exam, each participant must hold 10 sound bath events with at least 5 attendees at each event. They must collect and turn in 20 feedback forms. 

1.11 COURSE TIMING

The entire course, including the certification exam, must be completed within 12 months of the participant's chosen Course Start Date.  Access to course content is available for 12 months from their Course Start Date. 

1.12 COURSE EXTENSION

Participants may request a six-month extension providing the request is made before their course expires (12 months from their Course Start Date). Extensions cost $600. 

1.13 PARTICIPANTS/STUDENTS

People who register for the course will be referred to as “participants” or “students” throughout this handbook and the registration process. 

SECTION 2:  ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

2.1 ELIGIBILITY

All of the following eligibility requirements must be met in order to register for the course:

  1. Participants must be in good standing with Ascending Sounds and all its subsidiaries.
  2. Participants must be 18 years or older at the time of registration. 
  3. Participants must understand, read, and write in English. This course is not offered in any other language. 
  4. Participants must not have taught, coached, or mentored any courses, workshops, or classes (including portions of any) involving how to play gongs, crystal singing bowls, or sound baths in the past and must not plan to do so within the next 24 months. This restriction includes private lessons and group sessions. Registration exceptions may be considered; please contact Ascending Sounds for more details.

2.2 CODE OF CONDUCT

Any of the following behaviors may result in immediate removal from any course a participant is enrolled in with no refund, loss of certification or any other credential, and lifelong prohibition from participating in any Ascending Sounds business. 

  • Breaching confidentiality agreements, including the Course NDA, Course Terms & Conditions,  and online participant confidentiality agreement signed during the registration process.

  • Using any of Ascending Sounds’ or subsidiaries’ intellectual property without explicit written permission, including but not limited to copy, photos, and trademarked names.

  • Copying or sharing any portion of the course content, including online community content.

  • Wrongful use or false representation of any Ascending Sounds brand.

  • Giving false information on registration forms.

2.3 STATEMENT OF NON-DISCRIMINATION

Ascending Sounds endorses equal opportunity and supports offering every student fair access to course resources, opportunities, and support without discrimination.

2.4 CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To obtain certification, the following must be completed:

  • Accurately complete course registration.

  • Sign the Course Non-Disclosure Agreement (Course NDA).

  • Sign the Online Participant Confidentiality Agreement.

  • Sign the Course Terms & Conditions Agreement

  • Agree to policies in this participant handbook.

  • Pay all course fees in full. 

  • Complete the entire Player Essentials™ Module and pass each quiz.

  • Complete and pass all Practice Assignments.

  • Complete and pass all Technique Assessments.
  • Complete and pass all Play for Others Sound Baths.
  • Pass the final certification exam. 

  • Sign the Certification Licensing Agreement.

Only after fulfilling all of the above requirements will they be awarded a Certification Credential.

2.5 MINIMUM INSTRUMENT REQUIREMENT

Instruments are not required to start the course, but to complete it, each participant must have access to the minimum instrument requirement outlined below.

The minimum instrument requirement is: 

  • One 30" or larger gong made of either nickel silver, or bronze (NO wind gongs) and mallets. The minimum mallet requirement is 1 large and 2 small gong mallets.

  • 5 crystal singing bowls (at least 2 bowls must be in the 3rd octave, the rest in the 4th octave) and mallets to play the side and the rim of the bowl.

  • One of the following instruments:

      • Bead drum (also known as ocean or wave drum)

      • Schlagwerk Raintower

      • Schlagwerk percussion tube

To complete the required assignments, each participant must also have access to the following:

  • Decibel meter (preferably a stand-alone one).

  • Recording (audio and video) device (such as a smartphone).

The total cost of the certification course does not include instruments, and Ascending Sounds does not offer instrument rentals.

SECTION 3: REGISTRATION PROCESS

3.1  REGISTRATION & FEES

All participants must complete their own registration. They will choose their Course Start Date from a list of options while registering. 

The registration link will take participants to a third-party registration system for registration and fee collection. 

During the registration process, participants must provide their contact information and agree to all conditions outlined in the participant handbook, the Course Terms & Conditions, and the Online Participant Confidentiality Agreement.

After completing payment, the Non-Disclosure Agreement (Course NDA, explained in section 3.2) is acknowledged and digitally signed. Signing it is required to gain access to the course. 

Ascending Sounds does not accommodate refunds or cancellations except for what is stated in the “grace period” (section 3.4) policy. 

3.2 COURSE NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT (COURSE NDA)

Before accessing the course, participants are required to electronically sign the Course NDA.  Participants will learn confidential (and copyrighted) information exclusively owned by Ascending Sounds. Participants may use this confidential information ONLY to offer sound bath events. Any distribution, teaching, or sharing of this information is strictly prohibited. This agreement is permanent.

3.3 COURSE NDA COMPLETION DEADLINE

Participants must sign the Course NDA within 7 days of submitting registration payment. If it is not signed within 7 days, Ascending Sounds may initiate a refund of the price paid minus the $250 registration fee. 

3.4 GRACE PERIOD

3.5 IDENTITY AND TEST SECURITY

Each participant must confirm their identity with a valid government ID to take the certification exam. 

3.6 LANGUAGE

The course is exclusively offered in the English language. Ascending Sounds does not offer translation services or provide translators for participants. Participants are responsible for ensuring they possess sufficient English language proficiency to participate fully in the course activities and understand the course materials.

3.7 EXAM RETESTING: PARTICIPANT FAILS

Participants must take the certification exam within 12 months of their Course Start Date. If a participant fails the certification exam, they may retake it two times for a fee of $150 each time. There must be at least 30 days between each exam attempt. Participants who fail are given an additional 3 months to pass the exam. All attempts must be completed within 15 months of their Course Start Date.  If a participant fails the exam three times or does not retake it before the 15-month deadline, they must register for the course again. 

3.8 PARTICIPANT OPTS OUT OF CERTIFICATION

A participant may opt out of doing the assignments and/or taking the exam required for a Certification. Any participant who does not complete either in the allotted time is considered to have opted out and will not receive additional time to complete it. 

3.9 PARTICIPANT CANCELLATION, TEST OR FEE REFUND, FAILURE TO APPEAR

Ascending Sounds does not accommodate refund requests for the course outside of the grace period. Participants who do not complete or access the the course content, complete the assignments, or take the certification exam in the allotted time period of 12 months, forfeit all fees paid for the course. 

If a participant has missed the course or test due to an emergency or hardship, they may contact Ascending Sounds. Emergencies and challenges will be assessed individually, and documentation will be required.

SECTION 4:  CERTIFICATION 

To receive certification, participants must complete the Player Essentials™ module, all required assignments, and pass an online certification exam. 

4.1 PRACTICE ASSIGNMENTS

There are 13 practice assignments that must be completed throughout the course concurrently with the Player Essentials™ module. Participants must have access to the minimum instrument requirement to complete all assignments. 

4.2 TECHNIQUE ASSESSMENTS

There are 3 technique video assessments that must be turned in during the course. 

4.3 PLAY FOR OTHERS (PLAY SOUND BATHS)

Each participant must hold 10 one-hour sound bath events with a minimum of 5 attendees. They must collect and turn in 20 feedback froms from attendees as described in the course.

4.4 CERTIFICATION EXAM

The online certification exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions.  Participants must answer at least 70% of the questions correctly to pass.

4.5 EXAM RULES

The following are the rules of taking the exam

  • The first attempt at passing the exam must be completed within 12 months of the Course Start Date.

  • Notes are not allowed during the exam. 

  • The exam must be completed by the student without help from anyone or anything.

  • Copying by writing, screenshotting, photographing, and recording of any exam materials and questions is not allowed.

4.6 VIOLATING EXAM RULES

If a participant is caught violating exam rules, the participant will be permanently ineligible for future Ascending Sounds and Subsidiaries courses, workshops, and exams. Any current credentials with Ascending Sounds or any subsidiary will be revoked. Receipt, possession, or transmission of exam materials, either before the exam or in the future, including exam questions in any form, is a breach of Ascending Sounds' policy and is strictly forbidden. Ascending Sounds reserves the right to take whatever measures it deems necessary to protect the integrity of its exams. This could include, but not necessarily be limited to, exclusion from a current course and exam and future courses and exams and suit for recovery of damages.

4.7 FAILING

Participants who fail the exam can take it again, as described in section 3.5.

4.8 CERTIFICATION REVOCATION

Ascending Sounds reserves the right to revoke any participant's certification at its sole discretion for acts (current or past) including, but not limited to:

  • Non-Compliance with Course Rules: Participants must follow all course rules, guidelines, and directives. Failure to do so may lead to termination of services and certification revocation.

  • Dishonesty: Submitting inaccurate information on registration forms. 

  • Falsifying Coursework: Misrepresentation of submitted coursework.
  • Violation of Course Agreements: Violating course agreements such as the Course NDA and Online Participant Confidentiality Agreement.

  • Misuse of Platform or Materials: Unauthorized use, distribution, or modification of course materials, platform functions, or any proprietary resources is strictly prohibited.

  • Legal and Ethical Violations: Any actions violating local, national, or international laws, or considered unethical, will result in immediate service termination and certification revocation.

  • Failure to Meet Payment Obligations: Participants must fulfill their payment obligations as agreed upon at the time of enrollment. Failure to do so may result in suspension or termination of access to the course. Any person filing a chargeback on any purchase for goods or services made with Ascending Sounds or a subsidiary will be terminated from this and any other course, event, or workshop offered by Ascending Sounds without a refund. Ascending Sounds may pursue legal action in this case.

  • Disparagement & Public Representation: Participants are prohibited from disparaging Ascending Sounds, its affiliates, or personnel in any format or channel. Further, behavior that damages Ascending Sounds' reputation or disrupts its operations, including criminal acts or conduct that questions a participant's suitability for public representation or leadership, is not permitted. Violations will lead to course expulsion, certification revocation, and possible legal action.

  • Non-Compliance with Certification License Agreement: Participants must sign a Certification License Agreement before receiving their official certification credentials. Failure to follow the terms of the Agreement may lead to termination of services and certification revocation.

  • Giving Unlicensed Advice: Any certified individual offering medical advice or therapy that is not explicitly trained and licensed to do so may have their certification revoked. This includes claims that sound can heal physical, psychological, or mental conditions.

SECTION 5:  CERTIFICATION EXAM RESULTS 

5.1 RESULTS REPORTING

Results of the certification exam will be reported within 10 days from the exam date.

5.2 CERTIFICATES

Participants who pass the exam and meet all certification requirements will be awarded a certificate of certification (which may be digital or printed) and the credential “Certified Group Soundbath Player™ (or Certified GSP™).” 

5.3 CERTIFICATATION EXPIRATION

Certification is valid for two years. After two years, participants must complete the revalidation process. 

5.4 REVOCATION OR INVALIDATION OF A CERTIFICATE

Certification can be revoked or invalidated if a participant is found to have violated any of Ascending Sounds’ policies related to the course and as explained in section 4.6. 

5.5 CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION

Ascending Sounds maintains a certification verification system.

5.6 CERTIFICATE COPIES

Participants who have received a certification may request a duplicate certificate free of charge by contacting Ascending Sounds.

5.7 APPEALS

If a participant feels there was an error in their online exam scoring, they can request a manual test review for a fee of $50. The manual review includes a thorough review of each exam question and participant’s answer, and a follow up report of what was incorrect. 

SECTION 6:  PARTICIPANT PRIVACY 

Ascending Sounds shall safeguard the privacy of individuals, where applicable. They shall hold in confidence and a secure manner the information obtained in the course activities at all levels of the organization, including the activities of all personnel (paid, subcontracted, or volunteer) acting on its behalf. Except as required by Ascending Sounds’s internal policies and procedures, information about a particular individual is considered confidential. Without the individual’s written consent, Ascending Sounds personnel shall not disclose it to a third party. Where the law requires information to be disclosed to a third party, the individual shall be notified beforehand of the information provided. 

To aid in certification verification, Ascending Sounds maintains a directory that lists all current Certified Players. All individuals who earn a GSP™ Certification Credential are listed in this database. The database may be publicly accessible and lists full name, city, state, and all qualifications for those with a valid certification. Contact information is not listed. 

By agreeing to the policies and procedures within this handbook, participants agree to be listed in this database. If a Certified Group Soundbath Player™ does not want to be listed, he or she may contact Ascending Sounds and express this in writing. Ascending Sounds may develop and publish statistical data regarding the exams; however, the identities of individual participants will not be divulged.

SECTION 7: PREPARING FOR THE TEST

7.1 LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After participating in the full course, participants should be able to do/know the following:

  • Understand and communicate the GSP™ Core Concepts.

  • Communicate accurate information related to sound baths.

  • Understand basic music theory and science related to sound baths.

  • Perform all gong and crystal singing bowl playing techniques and SSL™ techniques taught in the course.

  • Play a one-hour therapeutic-style sound bath with a gong, crystal singing bowls, and complementary instrument. 

  • Play professional sound baths as a service.

7.2 STUDYING FOR THE CERTIFICATION EXAM

The written exam consists of the following approximate percentages for each learning category:

Sound Bath Information: 20%

Science & Music: 30%

Your business: 5%

Instruments & Playing Techniques: 35%

Putting it together: 10%

Studying for the test begins when participants start the Player Essentials™ Module. Participants should take thorough notes throughout the course. It will be helpful to take notes of challenging quiz questions and review that section thoroughly.

Before taking the exam, participants should study their notes thoroughly and review any information that is challenging to them. 

7.3 TEST-TAKING STRATEGIES

Read each question and all potential answers thoroughly and carefully. Pay attention to questions that have multiple answers.

Participants will receive access to any course updates made during their course access time. 

SECTION 9:  UPDATES TO PARTICIPANT HANDBOOK

The Participant Handbook may be updated or modified at any time. Students will have access to the most current version of the handbook through their student account.
